“UAB Challenges”

‘UAB Reptes’, the event for generating ideas to solve social and environmental challenges, returns with new prizes.

Aimed at students and alumni, it will be held on the morning of February 28 in the Civic Square. Participants will work as a team to devise projects in favor of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The four finalist teams will take 30 euro vouchers to spend at Abacus; the winning team, in addition, tickets for the Canet Rock festival. Likewise, all attendees will be able to participate in the raffle for a computer.

The world has social and environmental challenges and the UAB wants to be part of the solution. Following the success of past editions, the University is organizing UAB Reptes 2023 with the aim of involving its students and alumni in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thus, this idea generation workshop will promote work in multidisciplinary teams to devise projects that respond to social and environmental challenges.

The event will take place on February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the study room of the RR building, in the Cívica square –above the bar–. It is conceived as a disruptive innovation workshop where people will be grouped into teams with members from different Faculties and Schools who will exercise their creativity to devise a solution to one of the proposed challenges. All this, with the revitalization of David Hernández Salazar, a technician in Strategic Design and Innovation in the Entrepreneurship Unit of the UAB Research Park.

The challenges that the UAB will launch are four and are based on four SDGs:

  • End of poverty.
    Quality education.
    Clean water and sanitation.
    Responsible consumption and production.

The organization will guide students and alumni to generate orderly and clear value proposals that allow them to visualize a path to follow to solve problems. In this way, the final product will be the proposals that each team will present.

At the end of the morning, an expert jury will select four finalist teams, one for each challenge, based on the level of creativity, feasibility and impact of their proposals. These four teams will pitch their project and one of them, in turn, will be proclaimed the winner of UAB Reptes 2023. All the members of the finalist groups will receive a 30-euro voucher to spend at Abacus; those of the winning group, in addition, a ticket for the Canet Rock festival.
